Feedburner – Confession of a dinosaur blogger series (1).

By Jamy

I am Jonie comes lately. A new dinosaur in the blog world.
I go to other people blog and when I love what I see, I will register the service that these people have. In fact, most of the times after I installed whatever I think is cool. I have no idea of how to use it.

This brought me me to an incident which was very similar to my dinosaur blogging experience.
One Sunday in 1998, I promised my sales manager Wati that I would treat her to Hilton hotel for high tea for a good sales month.I was feeling a bit tired that morning, who would not after working consistently 16-18 hours a day for a couple of months. While walking towards my bathroom, I kept dropping my shampoo and my conditioner which I carried to the bathroom. I did not take much notice of it.

When Wati knocked on the door, I wished I had not made any appointment with her to go out. I was dead tired. The minute she saw me, she asked me if I was alright. I told her I was a bit tired. She told me my face did not look right. There was no facial expression on my left cheek and it was drooping. I then looked myself into the mirror. I smiled and laughed to the mirror and I realized my left cheek did not have any expression at all.

Wati said :”Quick, we have to go to the hospital right now, you have a stroke.”

I was stunned, shocked and scared. While we were walking down the staircase, I felt like I was going to faint any minute but Wati managed to hold me tight and we managed to get to her car before I collapse. We made it to the ER.

They did a lot of blood work on me and the doctor pronounced the deadly blow. Yes, I did have a mild stroke but they did not know why and how ?

The next day, the doctors scheduled me to have a head scan. Apparently, the machine was a top-notch scan machine made in Germany. Apparently, this was the 1st one that was purchased by an Asian country. Not even Australia, New Zealand, Singapore had it. I was wheeled into the waiting room around 1:30pm. I waited and waited and I felt into a deep sleep. By the time I waked up, it was about 4pm and I was still sitting on my wheelchair. Finally around 5pm, a transport person came and wheeled me back to my room. He told me apparently no one knew how to operate the machine :) .

That is exactly what is going on with me with this blogging experience :)
There are a lot of times I don’t know how to operate what I have installed :) . But, the good news is after I realized how to use something which I have learned in my blogging journey, I will share them with you in my seaykopitiam blog :) .

I am dedicating this FeedBurner short video to all my dinosaur bloggers :) . Watch it and you will learn a lot of features you might not know :)

I am glad I found a boater :) [can I used it that way, someone who is same boat as me :) ]
Might be I should start a page called Asksifu :)

  3. So what happen to your mild stroke ? Everything ok later on ?

    #218
  4. Unbelievable. Hospital staff actually put a stroke patient in a wheelchair for over three hours (practically forgot I think is more like it)? That’s a case for negligence, is it not?

    A, Bee and Cirnelle,
This post is about feedburner lah :) , not about my stroke or hospital lah :) :)
U gals cracked me up :)

    Bee,
All the docs did not know what happened to me. They only guessed from the blood enzyme that I had a stroke.
When I came to the state, my cardiologist straight away knew what/how lah, very simple, now I also knew lah.
I had 3rd degree heart block + PDA + ASD, that made me a very likely candidate to have stroke in my brain !
But, you know none of these docs who took care of me dared not write a conclusive report that I had a stroke. U read the report you know these people from ular land one.
I don’t want to say what ular land lah. But, if you are interested , I will email you. Not so nice in comment here, everyone from different country , be nice :) .
I am ok now. I had my open heart 5years ago, my cardiac surgeon was one of the best from the S.E region, Duke U graduate and dean of UF’s cardiac department. I was very very blessed, I had him the yr before he retired ! Can you believe ? And my cardiologist is the best. He is also from Duke U !

I am a bionic woman now. I have a pacemaker, don’t play play with me, ok :)

    Cirnelle,
That was not in America lah :”Unbelievable. Hospital staff actually put a stroke patient in a wheelchair for over three hours (practically forgot I think is more like it)? That’s a case for negligence, is it not?”
There were more jokes about that country I could possible tell you :) :):):)

  8. Actually, it never occured to me that you were talking about the US. I was actually thinking that this was Malaysia you were talking about. :)

*Cirnelle feeling ignorant about medical terms and goes to google PDA and ASD*

  9. Jamy

Not Malaysia, near by :) but docs from orang I/P :)
    See how smart u are :) .

Kapo, u find asd and pda or not ?
asd hole in the right chamber of atrium.
pda hole in the valve (right valve).
3rd degree heart block = the SA node which is suppose to be our heart pacemaker is not working for me. So the top atrium beat on its own, the bottom ventricle beat on its own.
Gila, so I lived with 38beats/min all my life until I was 40 :) even my cardio think I am one heck of a woman. Both surgeon and cardiologist said i am the 1st one they treated who’s so strong with so many defects :) .
    1st born lah :) , he he he :)

    #231
  11. Yes. Google has got tonnes of material on those two defects. The stats also says you’re one in a thousand, special baby. Seeing that you’ve survived to adulthood with those defects, I think you’re one in a million perhaps.

I told u long ago, I am sometin long :)
Usually they don’t survive till 40yrs old one.
I worked 14-16hrs a day. The cardiologist think I am real gila :)
I never felt tired :) . I used to work in K.L till 10pm then I will call the guys if they want to go to hardrock for makan :) . They all think I am nuts. I can live with 3-4 hrs of sleep.
U know Margaret Thatcher used to be my role model, she said a normal person needs only 3-4rhs of sleep, so I followed her lah :) .
But when I hit my 40yrs old, my heart gave up ! I slept 10hrs a day still not enough until they open me up and give me a new life :)

The only regrets I have is I did not go jumpy jump :)

  14. Hi Jamy,
Looks like the dinosaur is learning very fast. Soon it can fly to the moon :-)

Dinosaur has a intelligent sifu :)

  16. Your story somehow sounds familiar….. a new high tech equipment which managed to attract the attention of most of the staff…….and indirectly diverting them away frmo their actual job. =_=

Problem is…their attention…somehow…is due to their curiosity on how to actually start the new equipment.

    In my company’s case…..it’s a new coffee machine. =_=

    Alvin,
We are not comparing apple with apple here. We are talking about many millions of Singapore dollar here. I am not talking about Singapore but if you are smart which country use same currency ?
I cannot believe not even 1 doc knows how to use before they purchase.
But, I am glad that I am in the best of health care here.
But, if you really think about it, our life is numbered already lah.
If it is time to go ‘Long mountain’ to sell salty eggs, we will go lah but not yet time, the one up there want me to enjoy with my monkey lah :)
    Cheers !
Have a nice day in the office :)
