Kopitiam : Kopi = coffee, tiam = shop !
How many of you have ever wondered why on earth I wanted to chose such a name for my blog.
I believe deep down in my conscious mind, I have already have an idea that I want to be different. I want a blog that is of Jamy’s style and essence
.
Someone reprimanded that if I want to write more professional, I should not use “u” in my comment but you. I laughed in my head and might be I am using “u” to start a trend
.
Look at this blog : Boing Boing. It is the most popular blog in the world. I am not talking America, UK, Canada, I am talking about the world. Boing Boing ? What is that word mean, anyone ?
:)

Well, Boing Boing started out as a magazine before it went on to be a website, and even later, a group weblog. It isn’t really one blog maintained by one person. With a 20 year history and a fleet of people manning it, I should think that is why they gain attention. Either that or a whole lot of people are into technology, science fiction, gadgets and a whole load of cyberpunk subculture. Not my cuppa tea though.
Yes, the crazy professor and the makeizne were big too. But, how many magazines can recognize trend and went into the net’s form of magazine ? I don’t know. They must know somethings that others don’t.
Don’t you think so. I think there are a lot of magazines out there that had been around for >20yrs ?
Interesting site, I have never heard about it until now.. Thanks for the link~
No problem, anT.
if writing’u’ is bad then i mah die liao!
BoingBoing is ok but not really my cup of tea but thanks for the link. I did not know that was the most popular blog-zine.
Hahha, i always try to sound professional in my blog…well…though i must admit that it somehow restricts my creativity in writing.
Conclusion, jz be urself ! who cares wat others say. as long as your content is nice, people will come no matter wat.
I’ve never heard of Boing Boing as well! They can’t be that popular!
Wuching,
.
Me too, long time oleri
J.T,

Yes, according to Technocrati : http://technorati.com/pop/blogs/
In fact, I think the co-editor ottomatik(Mark Frauenfelde) and the editor- in-chief has a site :
http://makezine.com/
which is quite interesting for future inventor
He has another site called Mad Professor which you might be interested : http://www.madprofessor.net/
It is a site where Mark Frauenfelder reviews books, comic books, movies, music, software, tools, and toys.
Check it out

Alvin,

I am totally opposite of this : “Hahha, i always try to sound professional in my blog”. I played down and tried to be a crown
Jamy

Check it out !
I would be just happy if seaykopitiam listed on technocrati
actually boingboing is so so only. i believe it is all depend on how they market their blog to the world.
A lot marketing has to be done to increase your traffic and visitors.
Tak kan you open a shop and wait ppl to come and buy meh.. then horr, eneded up busy pukul lalat liao..
A new shop must have advertisements la, ask “chan chek pang yao” to “pong chan” your kopitiam and all that..
38kia,
What you said were also very true.
I think there has to be a balance .
Traffic = Content + Marketing.
My other personal take is PR.
Like if you go to a kopitiam, the food is good, got lots of advertisement on newspaper but when yo go into the shop, the ’sitaupo’ or ‘taukawnio’ show you a sour face, you also want to lari lah
:):), right or not ? kawan ?
But the other thing is ‘kamchan’, like getting the honor of getting naked leg handsome guy like Kenxu to be guest editor, ha ha ha ha, the next is getting 38kia to sell cartoon T-shirt in kopitiam etc… Might be lalat cartoon
:), ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
nice photo.
