Now let us debate : Worker vs Entrepreneur.
I love to read young people writing. I love to know their thoughts, the trends that are going on with work ethics , and work philosophies.
I have been participating in a number of young professional bloggers on their thoughts about works, their thoughts about bosses and their thoughts about how corporation should be run.
As I have been both sides of the table, a worker and a boss. I thought I would post an article on debate on Worker vs Entrepreneur.
Alvin Lim who called himself “The Thinker” has written a number of posts such as why would you choose a right company to work in, , Workacholic = good or bad?
Zewt not only talk about modern slaves in his blog, he even goes a step further recently on Keywords splendour, he said :”Gee… I never know my blog provides ways for people to take revenge on their bosses. But… sine that person is now your ex-boss… how was it? And people looking for EeChia in my blog?”
Cirnelle on the other hand took a different twist on the same issue : FINDING ANTHONY ROBBINS, THE KINDNESS OF A BOSS and so forth and forth.
I talked to Mayank the owner of these blogs :tipsosaurus and reviewsaurus , a couple of times online. This young guy inspired more than you could even imagine. One day he asked me while we were online, what’s the time in Florida, USA, I said it’s 2:30pm, he said to me it would be another 3-4hrs he would go to sleep. I asked what’s the time now in India, he said it’s around 11pm. I said what time you normally go to sleep. He said 4 or 5am. I said how many hours you sleep a day, he said about 4 hours. I thought to myself, another follower of Margaret Thatcher. She once said a human only need 4 hours of sleep if we trained ourself well. Mindset of a Marine Seal
. Apparently, Mayank is a full time blogger and inspired to be the next internet millionaire.
Having said that this article on “On the Other Hand: The Flip Side of Entrepreneurship by Glenn Kelman” inspired me to write this post.
I found the post on Guy Kawasaki’s blog. A guy who had his MBA from UCLA (The University of California, Los Angeles). A man who start an angel investor matchmaking service called Garage.com with Craig Johnson of Venture Law Group and Rich Karlgaard of Forbes. Read more of his biography HERE.
Well, guys and gals, I hope this topic will stir you up on some thoughts about this issue. I like all of you readers to share with us :
1. Why do you choose to be where you are now, worker/entrepreneur ?
2. What are the 3 fears that you have and the 3 rewards that you have ?
3. What are your 3 regrets ?
4. What are the 3 greatest pride in your decisions ?
5. Least but not last, tell us some of the hows on how you get to where you are today ?
Tell us in a few sentences on your thought about this topics, Worker vs Entrepreneur.
Thanks.
Sincerely Jamy.

I chose to be a worker after leaving life as a pioneer staff for a start-up company.
I got too tired of the start-up because after pouring so much effort into it, I was not appreciated for my efforts in trying to transform a small co to a great co.
3 fears:
1. confrontation with unreasonable people.
2. inability to communicate well.
3. lack of focus/direction.
3 rewards:
1. acquisition of knowledge.
2. freedom to try out new technology.
3. some recognition for job well done.
my 3 regrets:
1. having left my first job too late to join a start-up.
2. not furthering my studies with a masters (lack of funds – new priorities in life)
3. no guts to migrate back to australia
my 3 greatest pride:
1. having learnt from ground up building a company and team.
2. having won an award with the start-up.
3. more time and benefits for my family after joining a multi-national co.
well.. i have no regrets on being an employee for now. perhaps by the time i’m 40, i would have gotten some direction on where i want to go – family or career.
friends have told me that i have what it takes to succeed but i don’t have the guts nor capacity to do it now.
imho, being an entrepreneur does not matter at what age, it matters only if you do it or not.
i know what it feels like to be an entrepreneur, after working in that start-up for 3 years, i worked 14-16hrs each day (7-8days per week), learnt as much as what a person would in 9years at a regular company. it was a brilliant experience. no regrets joining nor leaving it.
great post. i’ll check out the rest of the links later.
Thank you so very much angie for leaving such genuine comments.
What can I said ?
