TechTalk - Make your blog more personal
With millions of blogs out there, it is hard for a blog to stand out from the rest. Besides having great contents and a attractive blog design, it is also important to build a good relationship with your readers and subscribers. One simple way to achieve that is by adding a personal touch to your blog. By ‘personal’ here doesn’t mean that you are required to blog about every single detail of your personal life in your blog, but instead changing your way that you blog would be a great start. Here are some simple tips on how to make your blog more personal.
1. Create a “About Me” page
The first step to make your blog more personal is by creating a “About Me” page. While some bloggers out there might want to blog anonymously, but in order for your readers to be able to connect to you at a personal level, the “About Me” is a good place to start. Readers can find out more about you by reading the “About Me” page and learn more about you, your expertise, your goals or objectives, ways to contact you and many more. A well written “About Me” page is also a good promotion tool about yourself and it can give out a good first impression to your readers.
2. Reply your comments
Comments in your blog are valuable feedbacks by your readers. As a good blogger, you would have to love writing to continue to provide, day after day, fresh, new material to keep your readers engaged and keep them coming back. Comments are good ways to have two-way communications with your readers. After all, your goal is to develop a base of loyal readers, who bookmark and return to your blog again and again. As a good blogger, you should be able to accept criticisms and comments with an open mind and heart.
3. Write something personal
If you are technology or other technical bloggers, sometimes it would be good to write something personal instead of fully focusing on your regular blog posts. You may share with your readers about certain events that happened around you or blog about your recent holiday trip. This allows your readers to gain some insights about you and for them to know you more. It also would be good to provide something refreshing instead of your regular blog posts.
4. Connect socially
With so many social networking sites out there, it is much easier now for your readers to connect to you at a personal level. Now you are able to update your readers through services like twitter, pownce, yappd, facebook, myspace and so many more. Social networking sites are also good promotion tools for your blog.
5. Write with your emotion
The fact is, readers are connected to you at a personal level through your blog post. A good personal blog post is written with some of your feelings added into it. A personal blog post is where your readers able to learn and share your excitement, disappointment, opinions, and many more through your blog post. However, you should always try to find a balance and not overly doing it. You do not want to lose your readers for allowing every post to become very angry or negative. A good balanced post will allow your readers to relate to it and will draw them into the conversation and keep coming back for more.
Finally, decide today to make your blog a little bit better and more personal every single day!.

As for me, I will personalize the about page, post relevant information there and keep blogging. That’s a style too.
Just do it!
My blog is already personal. And it is sooo boring! LOL!!!
I need to be more “controversial”???
Hmmmm.. One thing lacking though.. My about page. Blogger doesn’t give you a place for it and so, I think I’ve got to get around that. LOL…
I think one of the reason why I was drawn to your blog from a lot of might be more famous Malaysian techs bloggers was your personal touch, especially your photos on interesting events and places of Japan.
It is so true, there are tons of “how to” tech blogs there, sometimes it is at times information overload, like ken’s recent post.
I have to add a few of my 2cents here :
1 is being helpful
2 is never never think you have made it to the top, the top paid posties, the top whatever and started writing uncalled for things like ‘ a lot of new bloggers come to a famous bloggers site just to get noticed’. I think that is very uncalled for kind of statement. To me it is alright for a new blogger who is unknown when they start off to comes to an oleri famous blogger site, the famous blogger should give a helping hand instead of a cold shoulder. That is only my philosophy.

Ps : I love Ken blog because he is such a helpful, friendly and sweet guy :):).
