Meme, Wuching , Melbourne and my story :
I know this is not required in Meme but I like to write something about Meme, Wuching and Melbourne.
I personally think meme is one of the good routes for new bloggers to get to know more bloggers and get acquainted in the blogosphere. At least when I first started, I did not know so many social network such as stumble and etc…
I remembered it was Wuching who got me started in Meme. In fact, I was very thankful to Wuching on that. I did not know much about blogging, let alone network. Wuching has been blogging for a while and has quite a number of active and passive readers ( like me ). I like Wuching blog from the very beginning . He is very funny and humorous and I especially love all the pictures he took in Melbourne. For those of you who does not know me that well. I did my last year of high school in Melbourne.
Lighthearted reading for the weekend :
Melbourne brought back special memories to me. It’s the first place I lived outside of my birthplace. And the trip to Melbourne also was my first time to take an airplane and the first time to live in a hotel . I cried a lot when I departed Kuching for Melbourne. I remembered when we first arrived at Melbourne, the thought of being so far from home and having to live in a new place scared me. Though there were like more than 100 of us who were in the same flight from Kuching to Melbourne but the thought of not able to see my family for a while made me sad.
But my sadness were aborted by some of my male school mates and classmates curiosity on adult magazines. Out of the 100+ of us, 5 of us gals and 8 gus were placed in the same hotel when we arrived on our adventure. An adventure to the Kangaroo Kingdom : Australia where we hoped we would get the finest education and hopefully returned home one day to be our nation builders : Architect, Engineers, Doctors, Computer Specialist and others. They must have forgotten to educate us the most important profession of all, a mother and a home maker : the engineers of the country building blocks, th engineers who educate and shape the next generation.
Well, I forgot temporarily my home sickness when we all browsed the adult magazine together :). In the same hotel, we also performed our Kungful kick on the vending machine when we saw the price of the chocolates bars. It cost us a fortunate to get a chocolate bar from the vending machine when we converted the week Malaysian Ringgit to $AUD. For your information, the exchange rate was AU$1 = RM $3.5 then, as high as US dollar now.
1st puppy love that lead to engagement:
It was a very memorable year for me because one of my middle school classmates confessed his love to me via a long letter from Canada (there was no internet then, my dear friends, it was 1978) . We both headed separate way after our middle school. He went to Canada and I Australia. I had never in my wildest dream thought about him being my boyfriend for we were the best buddies. I think he was too afraid to express his love for me because we were like 2 best buddies. In my growing up years, I was very tom boy.I was always the best friend of many of my male classmates. I was the one whom they confided in with their girlfriends or relationship problems because they treat me like one of them (boy). My buddy and I never had anyone special. We often laughed at our friends’ back that they were silly to have relationship so early. We often talked behind their backs that they were silly not to enjoy their single lives while they are single and instead get themselves worried with all that were entailed in a boy-girl relationship. So, when I received his letter that told me that he fell in love with me head over heal the first day he set his eyes on me. I nearly fell off my chair and my heart skipped many beats. Yes, a first degree block, the pacemaker forget to take up its job to send signal.
The taste of adulthood:
Melbourne was the place where I learn to live as an responsible adult. The place where I learned to live without my maid, my mother, my grandma and great grandmother who had always treated me like a princess. I had never done my own laundry, made my bed, let alone cook any meal. Within my 1 year stay in Melbourne, I learned to live with socks that had not been washed for a week, I learned to live with jeans that had been worn for 4 weeks, I learned to live without shower for a week in winter, I learned to live with having to eat burnt fried rice, burnt “Bee Hoon” that I learned to cook, I learned to gobble down a box of ice cream and finished a loaf of resin bread in a night. And I gain 50lbs within 9months from a small petite figure of 102lbs at 5ft 1 in to 152 lbs at no height increase :), the wonder of rich chocolate, milk, and ice cream. So, Melbourne has always had a special place in my heart. And when I discovered Wuching’s blog, I went back to my memory lane.
In fact, from Wuching’s memes, I got a number of Malaysian readers to my blog which I am every thankful for !
The first taste of SEO:
The Meme that brought me the most links and got my old Seaykopitiam’s Alexa’s rank increased a whole lot was this one from Kuanhoong :
“The face behind the blog ” Meme , HERE.
I suspect the reason that this meme brought my Alexa’s rank up so much was because a lot of blogs that I linked to in that meme have very high Alexa’s rank. Please don’t quote me on that, I am only a dummies blogger.
These are the blogs that I linked in the Meme “The face behind the blog ” Meme :

I had done a few Memes since I moved from my old Seaykopitiam to my new Seaykopitiam. They can be found on my category section of my blog title Meme and this is the link to all the Memes I had done : Here.
The word of a wise man:
Recently, Kuanhoong blogged a post about : Why it is not advisable to participate in Meme or Link Schemes, here.
Question ?
I thought you might be interested in reading it and you might like to share about your thoughts on Meme.

wuah! such long & touching sitori! i have moist eyes liao *sob sob* tears of happiness for you & your successful blogs! eh, you’re supposed to add an advice to the list!
Hmmm…Wuching, you asked us to add advice meh? U expect a dinosaur like me to give advise ?
Well, ok lah, one advise. Treat blogging like your hobby, don’t worry too much about Alexa’s rank, about comments or traffic (those are good things and they are encouragement to bloggers), keep blogging , keep writing and keep doing things you love :).
Soon enough there will be people who like you as you are. Like me to your blog. Though I don’t visit daily but I go there now and then to see the pictures, to read your ’siaw yuo’ :):) :):).
