I hate strike ! I first encountered strike when I was living in Australia 30 years back. I remembered I hated it so much that I would cursed them with the foulest mouth (of course they did not know Hokkien). I hated the most when the postal workers or the railway workers went on strike then.

It was because at that time snail mail was my only mode of communication from my family thousand of miles away. I did not want to make phone calls unless it’s necessary because it was expensive with the currency exchange. And train was the only transport I had to go from my home to Melbourne city to take my Chinese class. I found strike very disrupting to my life then. I did not know much about socialism, capitalism but I hated strike.

Now that I am in my adult years, I hate strike as much as when I was younger. I think any government with the right sense of mind should ban strikes (not rally but strikes). I am glad I have never encounter a single strike living here the last 7 years.

Could a country progress with this kind of strike ? : French Transport Strike Enters 8th Day as Talks Start (Update5).

As a capitalist, I really do not understand why these people would go on strike and disrupt 8 days of public transport for a mere extra of 2.5 years in their career life ! While I was studying in the local bookstore’s cafe here, I saw an interesting sticker which read “Keep on working and kept the welfare away” at a patron notebook. This guy who was sitting next to my table was busy working away, not knowing that I was smiling at the sticker that was on his laptop.

A lot of things people do just does not make sense to me, sigh.
