Why people read blogs ?

Basically, I personally think there are only 2 categories of blogs that are most well read. If you don’t believe me, read at these blogs’ subscribers statisitcs.
Category 1 : Blogs that contain useful information.
1. Zen Habit.
2. Problogger.
3. Dumb little man.
Category 2 : Blogs that entertain you.
3. Perezhilton
A lot of people say you need to have your own domain name, wordpress, your own hosting server to get good page rank. As much as there are some truth in that statement, I still think creativity beats all. I remember a very snob blogger brushed me off that I was not being professional to use “u” and that I should use “you”. I thought what a crab, when did blogging became professional ? So far, I only know one blogger who is getting his Ph.D in IT. That snob who brushed me off most likely was in his crib wearing diapers when I got my master degree in IT in the early 80’s. To me, blogging is an expression of creativity like any kind of arts : painting, poetry, etc… It is an art not a science.
I see successful bloggers are those who are very creative and full of original ideas. They are not like me who copy here and there with some research of course. When I say creative, I mean like this guy Seth Godin who write simple stuff but looks so professional :). I do believe I am somewhat creative, otherwise, my water melon topic won’t be copied all over the blogosphere :). And so is my post on crocs-the-world-most-ugly-shoes, I see a number of crocs articles floating around too :).
What do you think ? Do you think you need to be creative in order to get notice in blogosphere or you really think there is a place for copy cat like me

I am learning to have fun with blogging. so for now it is entertainement. Yet, I hope to make money some day at it.
Hey, I liked the Seth Godin guy. I read the one about ” Don’t let the words get in the way of you’re writing ,You’re just trying to make a point, to write something worth reading.
I am always amazed at Americans marketing talents.
When I was working with my ex-boss in Asia and took a holiday in US, I was amazed at American’s marketing talents.
And Seth is one of those guys.
Like the saying goes, able to sell ice to the Eskimo.

reading blogs is like a new way of socializing nowadays. I mean for me myself, why do I read blogs and blogs is that I want to meet people, to get to know people. Yes, I truly agree with the originality and also the creativity that you must have in order to attract more readers but some people always put in mind - get the money first. For me, the touch first then money would come easy. It’s the personal touch of “Hey, I know you .. you’re my friend” kinda touch eventhough we never met. PR is the key ..

Me too, “reading blogs is like a new way of socializing nowadays. I mean for me myself, why do I read blogs and blogs is that I want to meet people, to get to know people.”
I met a few very nice people on the internet and since we have became good friends over the net.
