Do you know what is GATA ? If you have not heard of it, let me introduce GATA to you today.
The Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee was organized in January 1999 to advocate and undertake litigation against illegal collusion to control the price and supply of gold and related financial securities. The committee arose from essays by Bill Murphy, a financial commentator, and by Chris Powell, a newspaper editor in Connecticut, published at Murphy’s Internet site, www.lemetropolecafe.com.

Gold investment has never been a mystery to the Chinese people prior to the communist regime. Chinese people used gold and silver coin for their trades way before the ‘White People’ knew about trading :). Don’t forget, we are one of the oldest civilizations in the world.

And when I relocated to the US in 2001, I met an older gentleman (who later became my investment mentor) who shared with me about why gold was the best investment for another 20 years or so. Seven years had seen past and I could not thank him enough for his foresight.
It was in 2002 that I came across GATA , and as I read more, I learn more about why/what/how GATA’s work. And if you have followed American politics, you most likely have heard of Ron Paul, one of the presidential candidate. Ron Paul is very pro gold and you know he gets my vote for US’s president, right ? Well, this is my first ever vote in my life. (my virgin vote, I have never voted in my life, many factors had resulted in me not voting in my life, that is another post in the future).
GATA has came a long way : The GATA Gold Conference - April 17-19 2008 - Washington, DC.
Jason Hommel on his recent email said that :
My gut tells me that the gold price has a good chance to go up by more than $25 in one day on Friday, February 1st, and again, another $25 in one day on Monday, February 4th, because a certain ad will come out in a Washington paper on Thursday, this week.
Why do I make such a bold statement? Because it’s not that bold when you know what GATA knows.
I knew about Jasom Hommel’s work way back in 2003 when he first started writing silver reports. Excellent is an understatement to describe Jason’s work. We all know that there are a lot of ‘fly-by-night’ kind of ’snake oil’ financial or stock analysts on the web, and when you find one that is not, you know you will like to read more of that person’s works and insights, and that is what I did exactly. I believe Gold will definitely go higher when GATA goes to Washington as I have seen it over my 6 years of gold investment journey. My sentiment is reflected on Peter Degraaf’s post on ‘GATA GOLD RALLY’ – How high is up?
For the next few weeks or months, analysts will likely refer to the latest rise in the gold price, which started today, as the GATA RALLY. As some of you know, this Thursday, the Wall Street Journal will carry a full-page advertisement paid for by GATA. The headline of the article will read: “Anybody seen our gold?” The inference is that some of the gold that is supposed to be stored at Fort Knox may not be there, or may belong to foreign governments. The last time this gold was officially audited was 1953.
Some of the statistics that might shed some lights on my belief.
It costs GATA $264,400 to run a full page ad in the Wall Street Journal at a cost of $264,400.
The circulation of the Wall Street Journal is more than 2,000,000.
GATA’s email list is maybe about 5000 to 10,000.
Jason’s circulation is about 68,000.
And gold bug Jamy’s is 46 :).
