I attended our graduate recruit fair at the local Hilton on Sunday (that makes it the 4th day of Chinese New Year). There were a lot of door prizes but my name was not even called 20 minutes after the door prizes lucky draw. I started complaining to one of my classmates that they must have found my Chinese name too difficult to pronounce and decided to thrash my lucky draw card. I gave up and went to go the bathroom instead. While I was coming out of the bathroom, I heard the lady who organized the function said “This is the moment all of you are waiting for tonight, our final grand prize :Blackberry peral 8130 , and the winner goes to Hoon Tan “. I heard cheering “Jamy, Jamy, Jamy…”. I thought might be I did not hear it correctly but when I realized what’s going on, I was pushed on the stage to receive the prize ! Anyway I asked the lady who gave away the prize, “What did I just win ?”, the lady replied “You won our grand door prize ,a blackberry peral 8130 smartphone and a full year of subscription.” I thought wow, goodness me, a blackberry ? ! WOW !, that really made me feel like some high flier executive , but I am not, I am just an old fart :). I did not know what was a blackberry before the Sunday. I thought there was a blueberry because I heard of bluetooth but never blacktooth.

But, I was very happy to receive such a grand prize. My classmates, my friends, some of the departmental managers who I knew who were at the recruit fair congratulated me. One of the young men told me he would buy it from me for $1, he probably has guessed that this fart would not know how to use such a high tech stuff .

I was so excited and on cloud 9 for a moment and ended up driving on the wrong side of the road while driving out of Hilton hotel. Thank goodness, traffic was not as heavy on Sunday evening as it would be if it would be on weekday. This is the phone I won !, and it said ” Rated for Sprintspeed” outside of the box, and whatever it means, I have no clue .

There are so many features and even includes 2.0-Megapixel camera and video camcorder.

Now, hubby and I have to figure out how to use it .
