I love to read stories of successful people. I was reminded by my pastor last week sermon that CNN is a ‘bad news’ TV channel, I thought ‘Wow, how true was his observation !’. I realized I I have been blogging a lot on negative news such as the collapse of our dollar, the sub-prime loan crisis and many other negative news, and I am not too please about the negative blogging theme.
I was born with congeniality heart diseases, a PDA, an ASD and a 3rd degree heart block but I was always upbeat about life. I have never let my diseases out beat me. I did more things than a lot of people who have normal heart. I achieved a lot more things than people who were born normal. So, I tell myself, enough is enough, unless I am gonna give solution to the negative news, I am not going to blog a whole lot about negatives news that surround us !
So, today, I am bringing you stories of 2 very successful women : Kim Kleeman and Amy Smilovic. Both are successful in their own rights. One in education business and the other in apparel busienss. And both own companies that ranked in millions.

The 4 things that I really like about these women are :
kleeman:
1. Optimistic and realistic about life
You have to be optimistic but realistic in life. You can’t think that everything is OK in life, you have to know change is going to happen. If you’re flexible and adaptive, it won’t come as such a shock.
2. The importance of family value
I don’t think we need to look too closely at the news to see something is going wrong. People aren’t taking responsibilities; we have the responsibility to impart family values on our kids. We shouldn’t let our little girls go around in midriff tops and shorty shorts, and say “boys will be boys.” It’s our responsibility to show them what’s right.
These are quotes from the interview on Kim with Ester J. Cepeda on suntime.com.
Smilovic :
1. Creativity
I really appreciate creativity, and absolutely thrive on new ideas, colors and beautiful things.

2. You are the asset and the world is under your feet.
Amy Smilovic started Tibi in 1997 when her husband was transferred to Hong Kong. She had a choice— report to her husband at American Express or start her own business. She chose the latter. Tibi fashions are now found in over 200 specialty stores and upscale department stores around the world including Saks, Henri Bendel, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Net-a-Porter, Harvey Nichols, Harrods and Scoop. Scarlett Johansson, Liv Tyler, Drew Barrymore and Reese Witherspoon are all fans of Tibi.

“If you just design for yourself, someone will identify with it,” Smilovic says. “The world is big enough, and you’ll find a group of people who want to dress like you.” As a woman who has seen much of the world, Smilovic certainly is a testament to this.

I think as women, we work if not triple but at least twice as hard as men because family ultimately is the most important asset in our lives. However, with creativity, hard work and determination, I do not think we should feel hopeless, look at the model of Proverbs 31 woman that the bible gives us !
