I did my investigation work yesterday :), the cleansers range from $5.39 to $5.69 .

If you buy 3 of the cleansers ~ $17+ (with tax)

CVS take off $1 from each of the Clean and Clear product

And you can print a $3/2 (they will take off $3 if you buy 2) coupon from the site, here.

And once you registered with Clean & Clear site (free), they will send you a $2 coupon to your email.

You will only pay $4.50 for 3 cleansers : (say you get 2 normal cleanser and a blackhead cleanser) :

$17.50 (with tax) - $3 (CVS’s $1 discount each) - $3×2 (manufacturer’s coupons) - $2 (manufacturer’s coupon) - $5 (store credit) = $4.50 for 3 facial cleansers.

It will cost me 50cents because I have my $4 store credit from my purchase of Neutrogena’s mascara. I wrote about the my deal on my mascara on the post titled : how-i-saved-75-for-what-i-have-bought

If I calculate the 2 transactions, this is what I ended up paying for my mascara and facial cleansers.

Mascara was $5.99 and there’s a $1 manufacturer coupon. So, in fact I paid $5.30 (with tax) out of my pocket. With the transaction, I got back a $4 store store coupon. I use the $4 coupon + another 50cents to pay for the 3 facial cleaners.

So all in all I pay 50cents + $5.30 = $5.80 for a branded mascara and 3 branded cleansers.

To me, that is a real good deal. Most of the times, I wash my face with Olay brand facial cleaner and it is about $5+ each. Now, with 3 facial cleansers on stock pile, I think I do not have to worry about buying no facial cleansers for the rest of the year :):).

I used to run 2 retail stores for a business man and from my experience, I tried to get my customers to stay in my stores as long as I can. Some of the marketing incentive that I provided were special or promotion offer coupons that my customers can use for their next visit. And it worked pretty well, a lot of my customers were royal to my stores.

I think CVS is pretty successful in doing that :). I have rolled over my CVS store credit over and over again. In fact, I look at it as a win win situation because I saved a fair bit of money on my household items with CVS and CVS got all my household purchase as I hardly walk into Wal-Mart door these days :).

I believe the manufacturers marketing manager and CVS marketing manages work side by side to get customers from Wal-Mart :), so far, they have won me over from Wal-Mart :).
