Total Spend on May = -$9.92

By Jamy

Albertson $0.99
CVS $1.14
Publix $68.87
Save A Lot $11.99
Walgreens $24.57
Total $107.56

On hand I have
CVS’s ECB $26.99
Walgreens’ RR $80.50
Total = $107.49
These are like credits towards next month purchase in CVS/Walgreens/Publix

Total Spend = $0.07

Frugal Challenge 2009
Total Spending on May = $0.07
Running Total = $666.55; Total left to spend = $666.55 + $0.07 = $666.62

This month I did not have any yard sales. I have 10 Dr. Scholl’s shoe sole, 10 Bayer’s glucose meter and at least 10 boxes of Ecotrin aspirin. I could sell these in next yard sales if my neighbor decides she wanted to do yard sales again :) .

*** Changes : I forget to take into account the $9.99 rebate that I received from one of the glucose meters, it was $9.99

So these are the changes :

Albertson $0.99
CVS $1.14
Publix $68.87
Save A Lot $11.99
Walgreens $24.57
Total $107.56

Rebate from glucose meter = $9.99

On hand I have
CVS’s ECB $26.99
Walgreens’ RR $80.50
Total = $107.49

These are like credits towards next month purchase in CVS/Walgreens/Publix

Total Spend = $107.56-$9.99-$107.49 = $-9.92
Profit of $9.92

Frugal Challenge 2009
Total Spending on May = -$9.92
Running Total = 666.55; Total left to spend = 666.55 + $9.92 = $676.47

Just curious – won’t you be counting those RR’s and ECB’s twice? Deducting them from what you “Spent” this month counts them once, and then you use them next month to spend less, meaning they’ll get factored in again. Right?

(Truly fantastic numbers either way you look at it.)

    Hi Carla,

Thank you for dropping by and commented.
In fact, I read some other bloggers who factor in their ECB and RR, I was wondering if that is double counting.

However, after calculating and pondering the figures.

I do not think I deduct them from what I ’spend’ this month.

This is what I started with from last month left over : Last month expense : http://www.seaykopitiam.com/2009/05/07/april-total-spending/
    I have on hand
    $21 RR from Walgreens
    $15 ECB from CVS

(you can read a month by month journaling of my expense here : http://www.seaykopitiam.com/2009-challenge/

Those RR ($21) and ECB ($15) had been spend on May and what I have now are new ECB and new RR that I gained on May.

I treat ECB and RR as cash on hand as I can use them in Publix as Publix treat them as competitors coupons.

They are like the change in my pocket that I am ready to use.

Hope that explain. BTW, I made a mistake in my calculation as I forget to factor in $9.99 rebate that I got from one of the glucose meter I bought last month. So, in fact, I am making a profit this month :)
