14millions saved through coupons

By Jamy

Wow, is that great or what ? AFullCup site members have saved 14millions through coupons.

This inspired me to set up our own Seaykopitiam saving journal.

I like all of you to contribute ideas on how are we going to do this project.

I am thinking of setting a category where you write in every month to tell me how much you saved each month.

Publix receipt has the amount of $ you saved every trip and so are CVS.

If we all take up some of our precious times to do the tally, don’t you think when we see the figure at end of the year, some of us might have a heart attack ?

Lisa, one of my readers made a comment and I think we can take it further : ” a friend of my sons came over a few weeks back – my husband told him we have no money but we can sure feed u if ur hungry — i giggles till the point i had tears — Coupons have been a god send to my family in more ways than one !!!”

There is a saying from my country (I was born in Malaysia but live in Australia most of my life) that “Sedikit sedikit jadi bukit” – A little bit make a mountain.

Let say we (10 of us) get these every week (the items are arbitrary, cos we get different kind of free items every week). I used the one which you all can remember because these are free items we got them free recently

10 bags of charcoal, 10 nail filers, 10 nail clippers, 10 A1 Marinade sauce, 10 Salad dressing and 10 KC Masterpiece Marinade sauce . We set up a broth at the local free market and managed by all 10 of us (rotation on labor).
Price each item at $1 each except charcoal at $5

100 nail fliers x $1 each = $100
100 nail clippers x $1 each = $100
100 A1 sauce x 1 each = $100
100 A1 KC sauce x 1 each = $100
100 Salad dressing = $100
100 charcoal x $5 each = $500
——————————
Total $1000 a week. There are 4 weeks in a month, so translate to $4000 a month.

Put that into a CD funds and yield interest. Take out the $ every 3 months and say the CD Interest is 3%.

($4000 x 3 months)/10 = ($12,000 x 3%)/10 = $1,204 every 3month we can draw from our extreme couponing adventure :)

Interested ?

If you are , post a comment in this post and I will think of how we are going do go about doing it.

When you know Jamy well, you know she thinks of making $ all the times :) :) Ha ha ha, by 10 or 20 years down the road, jamy’s seaykopitiam members will be in millionaire club :) :)

Jamy, I think this is a great idea. unfortunately for me right now I am still trying to catch up on bills. A couple weeks ago when I made the $50 in one weekend, I needed that cash to cover other expenses. Maybe once I get a little further along and am better making ends meet I would be able to participate. I wish you all the best of luck.
Also, since I am newer at this I don’t have as wide of a collection of the Publix published coupon books and miss out on a lot of the deals you get. But I am starting my collection- problem is where to store them ;)

    JB,
    It is ok.
Don’t store, sell them , do you mean books or goods ? If it is goods, sell them. Deals is cyclic, they will come again.

    Jamy,
I am interested in joining your group in seeing how much money we can save. On average, I am saving about 68% on all my purchases- but I read your site daily to increase this. Thanks for your insites to saving $.

I was talking about the q bks. I have them in a filing cabinet. But I am contemplating other ways to store them.

I have my coupon books in a plastic storage box, and separated by putting them each in individual folders. I think the filing cabinet is a good idea! That way they can be taken out and put back easily and you can always add more–if you have enough room!

I’m interested in this coop concept. Keep me posted!

I got into the coupon addiction when the article ran in the G’ville Sun a few weeks back. I’ve managed to cut my grocery bill from $100 per trip (every week or two) to under $20 a week. Our pantry and fridge/freezer have never been so full!
