I need your opinion !

By Jamy

Today I have a misunderstanding with Kelly and now Eve asked me if I have a $5 off $25 coupons even I have updated the newest one in the Tyson meat post.

What is your opinion on where in this web site should I put all the $5 off $25 coupons so I do not have to keep answering readers questions about where to find them ?

Your opinion is very important because I provide useful resources and you guys make use of those resources I provide and it is only useful if you can find resources that I provide.

No problem. Apparently you did not read the misunderstanding between Kelly and me , sigh.

So I will wait for a few people opinion before I finalized where to put them.

Maybe you could put it under the “coupon” tab at the top.
Although, Jamy, I do think that you do more than enough for us and if you put it out there once, that should be enough. You are the one teaching people HOW to fish, not giving them the fish! There is definitely an art to this couponing thing and it needs to be learned and practiced. I personally think that in order to understand how to save money in the long run with couponing, I need to be able to figure out deals and find coupons for myself because there may be a day when I won’t have great people, like yourself, around to be my mentor.
    Anyway, that’s my two cents.

Nicole, I agree with you. A coupon link at the top with current coupon links would be nice. I know from doing this a couple months that I just remember which posts have the links I want and then when I computer hop to print multiples I know right where to go. However, I understand that esp for real newbies it’s hard to find them. Also I know that I remember all kinds of crazy stuff and not everyone’s minds work the same.

Jamy, I understand your frustration. Everyday when I try to show people, the always want me to print their coupons. I tell them I can only print 2 at a times. It’s a pain in the butt to have to computer hop and I know I am extremely lucky to have access to multiple computers, but like I tell people, the only people I print Qs for are myself and my mom.

If you have time to make the extra link and keep up with it, that’d be great… otherwise, I think it’s VERY beneficial to read through all the old posts and see everyones tips. This is YOUR website! Do what you think is best for YOU too. I know you work and have a family so while you want to help everyone you can, don’t let this over run you! B/c I would be GREATLY upset if you got burnt out and stopped posting tips. I get excited when you post new things:) and I thank God for meeting you.

    Nicole,

    Thanks.

I think most of the people who come to my site are very new to coupon. The reason I said that is because if they are not new, they would be using Southernsaver, hotcouponworld, iheartpublix , iheartcvs, etc.

However, if you notice what distinguish me from all the rest of the coupon site that match sales with coupons is that I post a deal which is near free or make $ and I include the coupons that is related to it.

In fact, I am thinking of doing something along this line later on as I have many professional women who told me they would love to do coupons and save $ but they just do not have the time. So I see there is an opportunity for that kind of business that cater for women who want to save $ but do not have time.

If these people can save 50% each time they go to grocery by receiving a packets of coupon in their mail box on Monday morning to go to Publix shopping, don’t you think we have find a market niche ?

There are many coupon kind of sites out there but there is none like mine that come up with a scenario where you go to the stores with all the coupons provided and saved you 80% each trip. And I make sure the shopping trip is healthy for the family, ie a balance diet that include meat/veg and fruits :) At one time when I was in Publix, there is this woman who is really overweight and she must be learning coupon from another lady and I saw her cart full of food such as smoked sausages and lots of process food. And that is the reasons one of the comments from readers on Gainesville sun about coupon is most of the times they see couponers only buy process food.

That is why I emphasis to use overage to buy fresh vegetables and fruits.

If you look at my blog heading , it said
    Wealth = Saving + Investment

I am only talking on saving part , I have not even talk about investment. I bought Gold since 2001 when gold was $250 an oz and gold is $900 an oz today.

If you have bought $500 ( 2oz) of gold in 2001, you would have how much today ? And $5000, how much ? So forth and forth.

Remember, this is not only a coupon site, this is a Wealth site :) :)

Very interesting idea about the market niche. I think you may be on to something there. I only started doing this about a month and a half ago after finding your blog and I am about to have a little meeting with a bunch of moms from my son’s class to teach them how to do it–there are a lot of people interested in this, but many do not have the time. Luckily, I have loads of free time right now, so I can cut the coupons, find the deals on the sites you listed above(and yours, of course) and then shop a couple times a week.

I definitely think that there is a way to market this…especially if you provide the coupons and the “formula” for deals–I think this is a service people would pay for. I found a site called “savingsangel” that people pay a monthly subscription to for pretty much the same thing, and I know there are other sites out there that charge for the info you give out. Then again, there are a lot of free sites and you’d have to find a unique angle–delivering the coupons would be a unique angle.

    Nicole,
I am thinking more of affiliated kind of business.
Cutting and clipping coupons is very time consuming and is not efficient.
I am thinking of getting them from a reliable source and our job is handling logistic kind of job.

When people think of coupons, they think of messy, tedious, sort through the mess kind of situation. And I admit it, it is tedious. I think when people tell you about coupon organization skill, I think it is bs artist.

Try sorting out 10 copies of Sunday newspaper insert to save $30. If I am a stay home mom, I would but if I am earning $80k a year, I won’t. But if I am making $80k a year and I knew a service which I pay $50 a month to help me save $400 a month. I probably would definitely fork out that kind of service fees.

I see people writing hoo haa about last week newspaper inserts, I never write cos I have find over the last 18months of doing extreme coupons, it is not economical at all to cut and clip coupons from newspaper.

1st you only used 2 or 3 per inserts and you spend like $1.60 per newspaper
2nd when you read from HCW that there is a $1 coupon from 8/29/09 SS, you go flip the newspaper and then cut it.
The amount of $ I buy the container to store my coupons are not enough to justify.
3rd The time to label , store those newspaper inserts is too uneconomical. Time is $ as far as I am concern.
If the $ I saved in extreme coupon per is less than what I earn from my work, forget about it, it is not worth it !

This is what business we talk about economy of scale.

I have done business that is over a few million, trust me, I know what I am talking about.

This extreme couponing is not just matching coupons, it is more than just that.

Yes, this is just the beginning. I want to eventually from this site recruit a few like minded women to do this business.

To me the easiest thing in life is making $ :) . We should continue to talk :)

A few things we can do together

    1. Compile a journal of how much we saved in a year.
A story of 10 women who saved $20,000 in grocery in 12months.
Publish it and sell in it in Amazon :) . Divide the proceed and copy right in 10 portion :)

    2. Form a coorp
Get 10 x 5 free things every week
Sell them on flee market, rotate labor each member every week (less taxing)
Saved the $ in a coorp fund, use that $ to invest

See, there are many things we can do together, it is called Synergy !

    Jamy –

I have thought of this idea before — me & my s on discussed shopping for people who dont have the time — or providing them with the set of coupons to do so — (us making the match ups based on sales) i truly think there is a market for this kinda thing — hmm but im stuck on how to impliment it ehehhe :) maybe we could brainstorm — i work full time now but the place i work for will close its doors for good soon enough (although im praying for miracles ehhehe) — anyhow i think there would be people who would love that sort of thing – A lady i shop with sometimes from church swears to me there are people even in our own church who would pay me to shop for them hmmmmmm

  14. Nicole

Gotcha–synergy–love that word. I think I cut coupons because, like I said, I have the time and although I don’t use most of them that week, I find that there are many deals that I would not be able to do if I hadn’t saved those coupons.
Take the “Triathlon” book as an example: I did not even know at the time that booklet came out that Publix made or displayed coupons! Now, I see them everywhere and I have used something from every single one.
Efficient coupon organizing is so confusing it’s like Quantum Physics to me. So, after trying out a couple different ways, I think I’m just going to leave the inserts whole and cut when necessary.
Anyway, all great ideas, I’m glad you’re optimistic about making money–that’s the kind of personality that attracts wealth!

A separate post titled “CVS $5 coupon link!” would be easier to find than trying to remember in which shopping post you provided a link. Post a new separate post every time a new one comes out, and we just have to go through the last few post titles to find it rather than ask you or comb through several shopping reports to figure out where it is.
(When I asked, and you just said “it’s in PDF form”, I was like, okay, I guess she doesn’t want to tell me where it is!”)

By the way, I got a new CVS coupon by email this morning.

  16. Jamy

    Barb,
That is a great idea. I will wait for a few more to write in before I finalized.
If I have that mentality, I would not have set up this blog in the first place : “(When I asked, and you just said “it’s in PDF form”, I was like, okay, I guess she doesn’t want to tell me where it is!”)”

I charge nothing on this site. In fact, there are a lot of my friends ask me to charge like $1 a year s subscription service , I have friends who get upset with me when I give away coupons to others.

I for one believe the more you give, the more will be given to you. And I believe with all my heart and soul.

Today, I was standing at Publix aisle do not know what to buy with my overage. My fridge and freezer are so packed now I could not even put any more things in.

Then I remember I need milk, so I went over to the milk section and I saw Hook Milk is 2 for $5 and then I saw the blinker of $1 and then I remember I also have a Manufacture Q of $1 so dane it I made another 50cents on the milk. I just want to spend the overage away. I have so many fruits and veg that I do not need anymore.

See what I meant, it is like heaven pouring in blessings that is so overflow that I have no room to receive.

No, you will not find ’selfish’ in my life dictionary. If so, I would not be doing it. Ask my friends around me, they will testify to you.

I drop coupons at my friends garage door :) my son school moms, teachers , you name it I give away. It is a pleasure to be able to give !

I am not a very long winded person, I write fast and sometimes you just have to know me a bit better.

I used to managed a 1.2 million company, and my meeting is the shortest you could ever have.

I will send out a memo of
    Who do what ?
When do I expect them to finish

My secretary type it out , send email out to every staff a day before. They read it.

    Meeting start with breakfast provided.
Go down the line of person 1 to person 10.
    Question to them is
Is the project line I give is reasonable Y/N
Y , proceed next person, N give me 3 reason and give me the next dead line.

    Most meeting finish 30mins.

When I come to America, I go to meeting, meeting last 2 hours, no conclusion, waste of times.

So, that is my personality, KISS (keep it simple and short) :)

    Lisa,
You idea is good but it is a labor intensive job.
The best form of making $ business is you do set up the system one time and then you then duplicate the system.

Do you know the Edison family still enjoying the loyalties they received from their great grand parents invention.

MD earn good $ but there is 1 MD has 24hours a day to earn $ but if the MD invented a system and patent it, the MD has multiply his 24hrs to many many hours.

Get it ? That is what we should be thinking of ? :)

Interested ? We should form a think tank group :)

Jamy, are you thinking of a multi-level marketing plan like Mary Kay or Quixtar(Amway)? Or are you thinking create a computer program/database that can be marketed to other companies that want to set up this type of service?
Or are you thinking build this system and sell to individual clients, i.e.,the busy grocery buyer?
    Just brainstorming here…

    Nicole,
I am thinking of many things, no, I hate multi-level marketing, it is a scam !
No Mary Kay, I hate anything that is multi-level, I hate anything that is sale. I am not a sale person, I lack the sweet talk bs personality. I am too brunt :)
But, I will create a product that people like it without me selling :) The product speaks for itself and sell for itself :) he he he he :)

Yes, Lisa and I will talk and brain storm and get an outline, we will get you involve, our ocala gal :) :)

Your time is valuable. You already spend a considerable amount of time on this site. This takes away precious time from your family. I appreciate everything you have done but you need to be careful this site doesn’t end up consuming you. I do have a compromise suggestion that might help everyone.

First, if you can I’m not sure how this blog software works, make a new homepage. Put on that homepage something like this. “Welcome to my site. (then in BIG letters) If you are new or have any questions on extreme coupons please read through my e-book BEFORE you post your question as this may answer many simple questions.”

Of course make the word e-book a hyperlink to your e-book.
Then put a link at the bottom of the page like “continue to site” which will bring a web surfer to your current home page.

Next expand your e-book. Look through all the posts and see what questions are asked over and over again. For instance new people always ask how coupon stacking works, make it plain in the book that they can only use 1 mQ and 1 store Q per item. whether it is the actual store you are at or a competitor Q. Like Publix you cannot use a publix store q and a food line Q.
Put in there to make sure you read the rules of the Q and follow them. Put in there the no-no about copying coupons, using multiple computers to print out Coupons, using ebay, all the links to sites like Iheartpublix and southernsavers,if there is a temporary site to get a Q like the cvs put that in there in a Temporary section, selling freebies at yard sales, whatever you think is important and has been addressed many times on the site. Make it a basic couponing manual. It will be a constantly improving book because there will be things in the future that you may decide should go in there. Even then there will be people that don’t understand or need a little extra help and that’s cool, maybe they don’t read well or something, we can all help those as we have done in the past. In general, however, this should free up time and make it much easier for people to find these answers. Then if someone does say “were is this” tell them to go to the e-book.

Lastly put up top of each page a search function. That way if people want to go back to a post they saw before but aren’t quite sure where it was they can search for it instead of putting up another post asking where it is. Make sure the search function is big and obvious so people can find it easily.

well that was long hope it helps

Maybe put them under the COUPON category, under the competitor coupon heading? Seems very logical, but do not see them there right now? Also, a reminder now and again to look under coupon (which I have not really known about, but was plain once I looked for it) category for good printables or etc. HTH! Thanks for all you do Jamy!

    Hi Jamy,
I have only been couponing, extemely, for the past month, many trials and errors. My stomach still gets tied in knots before I go to the store. I usually have to stop at Cust. Serv and ask if I can use certain coupons. Before I go on,, Jamy, thank you so much for your knowledge, enthusiasm and human side. You actually care about people and what they think. You are one of our neighbors and make us all proud.

I saved Sunday paper inserts for 3 weeks. When I saw a bogo or something else needed, I would go through 3 weeks of pages/inserts of these fliers. That was too time consuming. I decided to cut and file then I would have the exact place to go to. It sounds like it should work, but I just finished today and haven’t put it to the test yet. The cutting was drudgery. From doing crafts, I had a very sharp small blade razor knife, callled a Helix, that I use to cut out on a Helix translucent cutting mat, which is like a soft molded plastic which abssorbs the knife cuts. For me this has actually reduced the cutting time in half.

I also had thoughts similar to Nicole. I wondered if there was a coupon software that would scan( using the machine they use in the stores) the coupons into a program, which you then could type in (search for) the bogo or requested coupon and if you had the coupon a match would show up all the coupons related to that product. It would show the competitors, MQ and any other matches. Do we have any programmers out there?

The hardest part for me is setting up the scenario but I’m learning and this is what I did today: My total bill was $68.10 and I paid $24.34. That was less than half so I was pleased.

    2 tyson bogo-6.59×2=$13.18
    2 hebrew Natl franks bogo-2×4.99=9.98
    2 broth bogo-2×2.79=5.58
    2 nabisco bogo-2×4.49=8.98
    1tilapia-4.82
    boneless ham-17.03
    nut clusters-3.29
    broccoli-2.49
    salad-1.99
    banana-.76
    —————–
    bogo discounts
    6.59
    4.99
    2.79
    4.49
    Store promotion savings
    6.84
    1.00
    .13
    1.00
    1.00
    1.38
    1.00 cvs register eb(extra bucks)
    2.00 cvs register
    5.00 off 25 cvs register
    2.00 fl coupon
    2.00 fl coupon
    1.00 competitor ? can’t remember which
    2.00 competitor ? ” ”
    .55 mq
    total coupon/add/ savings
    $43.76

I paid $24.34 I was shocked because I was looking at the total on the register not what I was supposed to pay.

One thing I don’t know is, for the $5/$25, is the $25 calculated by the 2 prices of each bogo item, or just the 1?

For me, I need a place to offer/sell the products I don’t use. I have given some to St. Francis.

The other thing we should share (and I haven’t read all the threads/forums) yet, is what websites they come from. I’m trying to go onto all the competitors websites and sign up for their savings info.

Kevin,, it was a great article, you had so many good points. It would be great to be able to navigate to one site but then go back to the one you were on before. Somehow, I manage to get lost on line.

Jamy,, you can put the coupons under your coupon heading on the website but it helps if the date it expires is known before we have to open the link.

Lastly I remember reading an article from a store in the North East, NJ or NY, in which an extreme couponer was banned from using a certain store. We should all remember our manners and perhaps not be too boastful. We don’t want to lose our privileges.

Thanks again, and if there is some way I can help you, please don’t hesitate to ask. sharon

Jamy – please count me in on

“A few things we can do together

THese are very do-able ideas IMO. I have had many people suggest I start a business wherein I shop for others. Aaccck.. I’d be afraid of being banned as someone mentioned in a post above, some days my savings are GREAT and other days just mediocre (buy anything saved is good!).

I’d be more inclined to buy more stuff if I knew I could sell it elsewhere (toothpaste for example – I haven’t bought toothpaste in over a year and still have enough for at least another year)….and Wheat Thin crackers – there must still be 20 boxes in my garage (I bought 60 because the overage was that good) … and CEREAL – I have to stop myself from getting more almost every week – I swear with coupons, they practically give cereal away!

Anyway, I’d be happy to mail you receipts on a regular basis and help in any way I can (typing/editing of book maybe?) with that project. Ditto on the flea market duty – I can go any Sunday to do that. Or if we could find a place in Gnv for same idea? I’d be happy to post to a group I belong to (90 families) about where to come buy stuff….and I can put up notice on bulletin board at work.
